Anonymous said...

that folder is meant to come back. you know why?

Cause its something that msn creates on default also its the msn cache of every detail about your msn account.

So stop saying the folder keeps coming back, your obviously not computer orientated nore have any knowledge, your internet could be dropping out with out you having a clue.

so stop jumping the fucking gun and blaming Microsoft, cause 90% of the time its the users fualt for being a dumb arse and in a hurry.

so fucking stop whining u pieces of shit and take some computer lessons.

IT KEEPS IT ON FOR A LITTLE LONGER THO MINE DOES KEEP SIGNING OFF OCCASSIONALLY

Lets hope someone else finds a solution.

Anonymous said...

MSN need to wake up and realise that people are having these problems. I thought it was just something wrong with my computer but am shocked that it is happening to so many people and MSN havent done anything to try and fix it.
Hopefull this will work

I'm using the Windows Live 9 Beta..
At first everything was great..
Then everytime i'd open the messenger window, it would sign me out!! then reconnect.. Ridiculous!!
I shut down messenger and deleted the MSN Messenger folder, restarted my messenger, signed in and now it works fine.. Weird.. I had "remember me" and "remember my password checked".. I unchecked them and rechecked them after the restart.. I dont know if that helps.. Gluck everyone.. And Thanks for the tip.. Im diggin it

Anonymous said...

ok well call me an oldie or whatever i dont really give a dam but the thing is, is that my msn (old msn no display picture, cant send things to friends with live etc) sometimes decides to be gay with the following reactions: 1 it signs out randomly and then says it cant detect anything, 2 the help topics have no troubleshooting advice let alone a solution and 3 the help topics lead me to a site which said something along the lines of "all servers are up and running". Now you think this is the start of my problem...well it aint...once it signs out it tries logging back in and it fails...now at this point a window opens up and says "would you like to retry logging in" so naturally i type my password, 3 minutes later says something along the lines of "unable to sign in check to see whether the you internet provider is connected to the internet" or something and then... you have to quite literally wait until msn stops being gay hence it logs in finally after 2-4 hours...my problem, my delima is that i cant find any information relating to this problem and i highly doubt posting my problems to a page which is loaded with comments will help...but its worth a try...

Anonymous said...

Another way is to go onto IE click tools go on connections then lan settings and tick the automatic config checkbox

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

ok never mind...it worked for a few hours lol

wtf this is annoying.

Anonymous said...

Ok so i uninstalled it, and re-installed it, and so far that has worked....we will see how it goes

Anonymous said...

Amrak, you need to pay attention to your computer lessons.

1. The cache that MSN savee for everything is the code MSN writes. So if the folder deleting works, tha tmeans MSN is writing a wrong code and saving it. That also means once you get back on MSN (The folder will appear), that if it writes the same code, then yes the problem will not be solved.

2. It IS Microsoft's fault. Internet cannot go out and my download still continue perfectly, and load pages flawlessly, yet watching my MSN log in, log out, log in. So it's not our very different internet providers, it is our same MSN that's the problem. Microsoft will come out with a patch/update to fix it. Until then, just bear with it. Or keep surfing for a fix.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and Not allowing MSN to run would be like fire-walling it. IF you do not allow to run, then it just won't run.. You won't have to worry about disconnecting, because you won't be able to connect to start with. >.>

Anonymous said...

This solution does not work.
I really hope they realise how many people currently do have this problem. It is SO annoying!

In the gpedit the thing that they are telling you to disable is not Windows Live Messenger, it is windows messenger. They may sound the same, but in fact are different.

TehCodehzor said...

Thanks for this fix, worked perfectly for me. Haven't had it sign me out since I deleted those files.

Anonymous said...

So what wud u say the overall conclusion to fixing it is , cuz i keep having the problem.

Unknown said...

Why dont you create a file called msn messenger so then the other file cant replace it and come back as there will be one already there.

Anonymous said...

Well, once you delete it you must clear out your recycling bin on your desktop. It will get rid of it FOREVER. It didn't work the first time, but did when I actually got rid of the file.

Anonymous said...

every couple of minuets msn keeps signing me out even in the middle of a convo its really irritating. I dont get any error messages or it doent say iv signed in someware else. could someone plz help me

Anonymous said...

why can't MSN wake up and fix this problem?
I know my computer probably has some kind of virus, but it shouldn't affect my msn.
I try the %appdata%\microsoft thing, and the FILE KEEPS COMING BACK. It's probably a routine of opening msn, typing in that in, pressing run and deleting that folder. And I hate doing that every time.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME :)

Anonymous said...

yeah the same happened to me,
i deleted it
a minute later it signed me out and the folder was back
why are there any problems to begin with?!

Users on other communities have found that the groups they were in were the problem. Haven't found out much about it but try leaving the contact groups you are in and restart MSN. Can't verify that it works 100% but my MSN has stopped disconnecting since I left the one group I was part of.

Waiting to be invited back into the group to see how the client behaves.

Petter said...

Oh hai. It worked.

So, the solution for me was to leave the group I was in, restart MSN and join the group again. Haven't been disconnected since.

Anonymous said...

The folder deletion worked for me 24 hours and no disconnect, good work.

Anonymous said...

ummm....i tried this several times but it juz doesnt seem 2 work....and when i have inserted my username and password, i cant even sign in and i have 2 retry a few times(evrytime i try signing in this happens)...but sometimes it still doesnt sign in.... argh!

Anonymous said...

it didnt cum with operating system 4 me

Anonymous said...

FIXED!! I had the same problem and I figured out a solution. I uninstalled Norton 360 and now Windows Live Messenger works perfectly, which was odd because even when I disabled the virus and firewall protection of Norton 360 I still had the problem, only when I uninstalled the whole program did it fix the signing out every 10 seconds issue. I REALLY hope this helps everyone else, because it was driving me crazy and I've seen tons of people with the same issue.

Anonymous said...

damn it doesnt work !!!!!!

I never had a problem with my msn until i set it to sign in atuomatically, then it was signing in and out all the time and it got really annoying..

i changed it back so that i sign in and out myself.

so far, i haven't had any problems and it's been a few hours :)

Anonymous said...

what do you go onto to do this ?

It's easy i got an easy answer for this...

(For Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit)

Step1: Go to start and at the bottom there is a typing area, type
%appdata%\microsoft and then open the Microsoft folder.

Step2: After you open the folder search for the folder named MSN messenger.

Step3: Cut the folder and paste it to your desktop.

Step4: At the desktop, you open the folder and delete the 2 files under the folder and rename the folder.

thank's man, it works but you must restart your computer first.

Niall K said...

When you delete the appdata folder it stops disconnecting but then it creates and empty folder and the problem starts again.

I don't know what causes it to make the folder again, nor do i know how to stop it.

If you delete the msn messenger folder a new one is made, if you rename it same happens again.

If you make it hidden it does nothing and it's already read only.

This fix is on the right track but didn't help over all.

Anonymous said...

ok so ther weired thingis that when i delet it is works but then when i clear recycling bin so its totally gone from computer it starts logging me out agein

Anonymous said...

So i sign in and evrytime i try to chat with someone or someoen tries to chat with me it come up with this script error on page thing and wether i press yes no or the x in the corner it just signs me out and closes msn.
