Slow Typing on Sign-in Screen?

Windows XP users

Go to command prompt and type in the following OR go to Start -> Run and then copy and paste each line below hitting after each one.

regsvr32 Dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll /s
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 Msxml3.dll /s

What these statements do is re-register the cryptographic files for Windows XP. Usually blown encryption is an effect caused by a virus or SpyWare infection.

mate, don't put the /s at the end of the line, this only means stop
therefore
eg. regsvr32 Msxml3.dll
not regsvr32 Msxml3.dll /s

Thanks!

I used the /s and it worked, hehe.

/s means silent, not stop

Everything worked except msxml3.dll. I get an error saying it failed with a 080004005. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix that?

This can be fixed have hope.

The error means access denied, it means the registry keys that handle lots of important information about all the DLL's have lost all their permission information.

you can verify this by going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and finding jscript.dll or msxml3.dll and looking at the permissions its probably empty.

do this as any Admin account

run regedit.exe

and right click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

goto permissions you may get warnings this is ok, goto the advanced button and when the window comes navigate to the Owner tab and highlight the Administrators entry.

check the replace owner on child and sub objects box and click apply it will take a few minutes and you will get more warnings.

then goto the permissions tab and check the replace permission entries on child an sub objects box.

click apply again this may take minutes depending on the size of the registry.

repeat the process doing owner then permissions until no more warnings occur.

then goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->CLASSES
repeat the two step process here note it can take even longer to do sometimes 5/10 minutes per step.

once you get no more warnings you can register the DLL's

you may not need to however things my start working again after you fix this.
